Latvia – a reminder of the most important procedures for entering the country

Until 04.06.2021, a state of emergency applies in Latvia.

Obligation to register prior to entry

Everyone crossing the border of the Republic of Latvia (also in transit) are required to complete the survey on the website https://covidpass.lv and show the border guard the received QR code. Completion of the questionnaire is also mandatory for persons providing transport services (people or goods) and should be done no earlier than 48 hours before crossing the LV border.

Transit through Latvia

From February 15th, transit through the territory of the Republic of Latvia may take no more than 12 hours from the moment of filling in the questionnaire on the website https://covidpass.lv. Exceptions (among others) apply to:

  • carrier’s employees, crew members – freight transport or technical service – can transit through the territory of the Republic of Latvia within 72 hours;
  • international transport passengers – within 48 hours

When completing the form on the website https://covidpass.lv, a person who will cross the territory of Latvia must note this fact at the beginning of the questionnaire.

Self-isolation obligation

At least until February 19 this year, persons who have stayed in Poland or passed through Poland in transit in the last 14 days are subject to mandatory self-isolation. They do not have to self-isolate, as long as they do not have symptoms of disease, among others, carriers of goods and raw materials, people involved in the international transport of goods and people.

In Latvia, it is compulsory to wear a face mask in all rooms (except at home) and on public transport.

For violating the restrictions in an emergency it is subject to a fine of up to 2,000 euro for a individual and up to 5,000 euro for a entrepreneur/legal person.
