The Germans, and later the Italians, confirmed that the results of the COVID-19 tests, shown when entering from Italy via the Austrian Tyrol to Germany, will also be honored in Italian language.

Recall: from February 15, 2021, all those entering from countries classified as areas with new variants of the virus, including road haulage drivers and crew members, must be tested negative for COVID-19. These areas are:

  • Slovakia
  • Czech Republic
  • Austria – the federal state of Tyrol (except the political district of Lienz (East Tyrol), the municipalities of Jungholz and the Riss valley in the municipalities of Vomp and Eben am Achensee)

Confirmation of the negative test result or the appropriate medical certificate should be presented on paper or in an electronic document, in German, English or Italian. All persons over 6 years of age who have been in areas with new virus variants in the last 10 days must be tested, without any exceptions.

Most of the tests and rapid antigen tests are recognized, as recommended by the Koch Institute. Antibody tests are not recognized. The test must be carried out no earlier than 48 hours after entering Germany.

Additionally, drivers must register their journey at www.einreiseanmeldung.de

Despite many protests, both from organizations of drivers, carriers, logistics companies and from the authorities of countries and provinces, which were directly hit by the restrictions introduced by the German side, Germany did not lift the requirements for professional drivers.
