Italy – additional COVID-19 testing points and requirement to have a test before entering Italy

A test point has been set up in Trento to allow drivers to undergo the rapid antigen tests necessary to travel to Germany via Brenner. The tests are carried out at the A22 truck parking lot in Trento Interporto (approximate GPS location: 46.114046, 11.090129). Opening hours: 8:00 am to 5:00 pm, Monday through Friday.

There are two more test centers on the A22 motorway for people coming from South Tyrol or going to Austria. They are located in two locations in Sterzing (SADOBRE car park and Top Stop car park).

COVID-19 Update: Obligations for drivers entering or passing through Italy

  • Italy: Professional drivers entering or passing through Italy who have spent more than 12 hours in Austria within 14 days before arriving in Italy must provide, in the event of a check, a negative test result (PCR or antigen) performed less than 7 days ago
  • Austria – Tyrol: Professional drivers traveling to Germany via Austria must demonstrate a negative test result within 48 hours of entering Tyrol from Italy (Brenner Pass, Col de Reschen, Innichen Pass).
